Dashing Rocks walk

We love our walking tracks

We have lots of awesome walking tracks throughout the District. From coastal tracks where you might spot penguins, seals and even the occasional whale, to walking tracks through beautiful native bush.  We can even have you climbing a small mountain to picnic beside an alpine lake, if you're up for it!

Dashing Rocks walk

We got talking to Di Hay, operations manager at Venture Timaru about our tracks, her current favourite is the Dashing Rocks walk.

Starting at beautiful Caroline Bay, head to the northern end of the car park and walk up towards the Benvenue cliffs and the old lighthouse. Look out for signposts and information boards as you go.

Even if the forecast isn't great, rough seas can make this walk more exciting. The waves noisily crash into the rocks below, the site of two shipwrecks in 1882.

For more detailed information and a map head to the Timaru District Council's website.
